I am participating in the Warm Up To Winter Knit Along. The theme is hats and mitten so here is what I made for it! I love the colors of the yarn. They show up a little strange in the pictures but the light color is a greyish beige and the hearts and stripes are coral.

Delightful Surprise

The lovely Elissa from Delightful Hands blog sent us a little Christmas surprise! It arrived on what we like to call Christmas Eve Eve. One of the best days of the year. Everything is done (almost...) and you're baking cookies and listening to Christmas songs and you have that lovely feeling of anticipation for the upcoming festivities. Peaceful is the word. And it was so lovely to receive this very special gift in the mail. There were squeals and oohs and aahs galore.

This is what we found inside:

Everything was glittery and beautiful! A sweet card with sweet words outside and in. Don't you just love that red chevron pattern? Oh, and of course it was glittered.

I love these homemade snowflake stickers! Isn't she clever?

And these gorgeous Nordic inspired gift tags! Packaged so beautifully! These are in her shop and we had already been oohing and aahing over them. They are even prettier in person. In fact, so pretty that we don't want to use them. Aimee said that she was going to write "To Aimee, Love Aimee" on them just so she could keep them. I had the same thought. :)

And last, we found this beautiful glittery snowflake ornament which was hung on the tree before you could say "So pretty!".

It just happened to match our tree perfectly! Normally we have colored lights and a mismash of ornaments but this year we decided to try a "matchy-matchy" tree. All white lights and red, pink, white, silver and gold ornaments. Doesn't it look pretty?

I told you it was delightful! You should check out her shop and all the beautiful things she has made. I adore this Valentine's Day card! Oh and this embellished notebook! Oh and this! Ok, I love all of it. :)

Have you ever thought about the word 'jungle'? Say it slowly to yourself a few times. It's a strange word. Jungle... jungle. Ha ha! But that's beside the point.

These are the plants I have in my room. They are a Happy Thought. The nice thing about it is it keeps the air very fresh. Which is nice because my room is right above the kitchen. Food smells really good when it's cooking and when you're eating it, but after that... not so much. So, it's nice to have plants. And this is a very random post. So there.

Hello there! I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving. Ours was splendid! A lovely day, a yummy dinner and a delightful time!

Tomorrow we're going to go cut down a Christmas tree with the fam!

"It's so exciting it makes me giddy!" -Persuasion (...What else?)

We've also been working on Christmas presents which is one of our favorite pastimes I have to say... And I remembered some pictures I took of a present I got last year from my sweet sister-in-law! A handmade gift of course... and such a good idea! Genius in fact!

It is made out of pretty, blue paper and book pages from one of my favorite books: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader! Although the pictures don't do it justice.

And here it is hanging so nicely above my bookshelf. Very appropriate I must say. =]

She cut out various sizes of circles, bent them in the most charming manner, stapled them onto brown twine and voila!

Isn't it the cutest? I love it!

My favorite line in the book... the opening words: "There was a boy called Eustace Clarence Scrubb, and he almost deserved it."

But alas! It is lost! And why should it be me that has stumbled and found it?This is not only a lost art but it is a fun lost art. Enjoyable to the writer, and even more so to the reader. We have all been crazy at our house (not that that is very different than usual...). We are getting ready for our friend Anna's Wedding! We've been sewing like mad women, watching Disney Princess movies and laughing our little heads off (Have you seen Tangled? It's hilarious!), gardening, drinking iced tea, playing music, playing with our nieces and nephews. It's been fun... =]

What have you been doing? I hope whatever it is- it's been fun!

I love books! Jane (who is the brilliant, Genevieve, one of the authors of this blog.) did a really neat post that told all the books she had finished in the duration of the previous year.

Finished Books of Two Thousand Ten

Robin Hood by Henry Gilbert --- This one was very good! I would love to read other adaptions of the famous legend. Ah to live in the greenwood and be as merry as an outlaw! 6

The Dove in the Eagle's Nest by Charlotte Mary Yonge --- Marmee gave me this to read for history. It was very good. The story had many twists and turns--some of them agreeable. 7

The Maidens Bequest by George MacDonald --- Oh! Annie Anderson! Who couldn't love her character? George MacDonald is a genius author. 7

The Hobbit by John Ronald Reuel Tolkien --- Marguerite read this one to me and Genevieve. I have never read a book by JRR Tolkien and i must say he is a favorite already. (We're now reading, 'The Fellowship of the Ring'!) 8

The Code of the Woosters by Pelham Grenville Wodehouse --- Absolutely hilarious. He likes using sentences like, 'Jeeves shimmered off.' and 'Jeeves breezed in.' and 'Jeeves poured into the room.' and 'Jeeves was ushered in by clouds.' 7

The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame --- I read this in Maui! It was so good! Every time you see a mole you shall think of sensible Moley. He is such a lovable character! 'Wise ol' Bagger, kind Rat, sensible MOLE!' the 1995 cartoon of 'The Wind in the Willows' is splendid! great gift idea. 9

The King of the Trees by William D. Burt --- Neat allegory. The Griffins were beyond cool. I'm curious to read the rest in the series. 6

Rebecca by Daphne duMaurier --- Of course, since the 1940's film 'Rebecca' is one of my favorite movies and definitely my favorite Hitchcock, i loved the book. The author really out did herself. It wasn't outrageously creepy but it did have some suspense and creepiness under each corner of the pages. Ah! one of my Favorites! 9The Bluebird and the Sparrow by Jannett Oke ---This one was sad.. but good. She has been a favorite author of mine for years now. 4

Meet Me in St. Louis by Sally Benson ---If you liked the musical, you will love this one! come to think of it...if you didn't like the musical, i think you would still love it! GREAT! 9

The Overland Escape by Lee Roddy ---who couldn't like Lee Roddy? I must say The Ladd Family Adventures are still my favorite. 4

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo ---I don't know why i never read this one before. It's so lovely! 7

Far from the Dream by Lance Wubbels ---yuck. not so good. I tried to trade it in at a used book store but when we got up to the counter it was no where to be seen! Consequently, Genevieve had dropped it in the library drop by accident. tee hee hee! 1

Lord Emsworth and Others by Pelham Grenville Wodehouse ---"Jane says, he's a baa lamb." I couldn't get enough of P. G. Wodehouse if i wanted too! This is one of the best! 8

The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare ---This story was very neat! My favorite character turned out to be someone I did not expect. 7

I received a wonderful copy of 'the Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club' from Marmee this Christmas. And now that i have sunk my teeth into a Dickens (my first!) I hope to be reading more classics. Next year, and the years to come, I should especially like to read,

Winter Light

Hello Everyone. I thought I'd show you some pictures of our crazy icy house!

This is a few days after our big snow storm.
It looked like the icicles were going to come crashing through the windows!

I think the longest icicle was close to 3 feet long! And it was pointing at the window too. Wow.

These next 2 are looking out the windows.

It looks like our house is being eaten by a giant monster of some sort!

Yeah.

Is it right that anyone should look this beautiful with that messy of hair and making that face? I love it! But so not fair. If my hair would look that awesome while being that messy... I would just not brush it.

My hair today is in two rope braids like this... (minus the Pocahontas outfit.) =]mixed with this.

You can find instructions for a rope braid here at Rapunzel's Resource. They're very easy and look really cool! And with my hair they're even faster than regular braids!

My nevvie says, "Last day, we went to....such and such." Why is it so impossible for kids to learn yesterday? I haven't the slightest clue.
Today, however, I'm sick.

This is a photo i took of my "kleenex box" last year when i was sick. The contents of this garbage container was the product of only one day.
Thankfully, this time it isn't so bad. you can imagine what i sounded like!

Tomorrow, I hope to finish my screenplay adaption of this book by P.G. Wodehouse. Or rather.. simply the first story. = 1 chapter. 62 pages.

I'm getting there.

She's a grand old thing. She is the softest. The shiniest. Aaaaand the most ugly color of yellow/gold you've ever seen.

Here's a fun and easy project for the family on Thanksgiving Day while they are waiting for the turkey. We do this every year and we all have a great time standing around it and writing down things that we are thankful for. We all love it...from Grandma to our little two year old niece.
Here are the things we were thankful for last year.
Just take a big piece of blank news print or poster board (or, if you don't have that just tape several pieces of paper together), tape it to a wall, write We Are Thankful (or something to that effect) in big letters and put a big jar of colored pencils next to it. Start counting your blessings! Don't forget to take a picture at the end of the night so you can look back at what you were thankful for and to laugh at the funny spelling! i.e. last year my nephew was thankful for "Bubels". Priceless.

But i am in the process of putting a magazine together.. i guess i could just *sigh* right now...

Outside the window pane it is raining, snowing and sleeting. All at the same time. It remains colder than ever... Not cold enough to make the fond freeze over (yet) but cold enough to seep past your skin and rattle your bones. "Judy! Shake me up!"
How am i supposed to keep warm?? maybe i should make myself a sweater.. I found this lovely one on Ravelry...
I would have to learn how to knit though.. It's called Acorns.
I love the color of it. so pretty..

It must be all about acorns today! I just finished frosting some woodland Acorn Cookies that simply say, "hey!" to you, they're TOO CUTE! I hope to get some photos of them before they get demolished. ;) They're really yummy. ;) Hope to be up here with photos of all the goodies we're making today for this woodland themed baby shower! (Gen, you're going to do that right?) hee hee! "Once there was a magical elf who lived in a rainbow treeeeee..."

Zion's Quilt

Here is my little entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival. Thanks again to Amy and the sponsors for putting this on again! Head on over to her blog to see all of the other fabulous quilts. There are also some fun giveaway's as well!

I made this little quilt for my newest little nevvy Zion! He was born this August and I, now don't faint, actually gave him the quilt a week after he was born! Amazingly I had this quilt all done except for the binding two months before he was born. This is a record people! You remember it took over a year do some of my other quilts! I have a quilt that I've been working on for...let's see.....about 9 years now. Don't even ask how close it is to being done. Let's just say, if I go on the way I have been I'll be getting it done in about 81 years. I better get moving on it I guess.

Ok, On to Zion's Quilt. Or, maybe I should have named it the "I've Always Wanted To..." quilt. You'll see what I mean.

I chose Log Cabin because I've always wanted to make a log cabin quilt and decided this was a good opportunity to try it out. I am a FAN. It is such a fun pattern to work with! As you can see, I wanted it to be one huge log cabin square and I wanted to use all scraps. Check and check. All the fabric are scraps from my other projects. There are a few scraps from my sisters and some from a friend too. Scraps from Zion's big sisters quilt and there are even scraps from two button up shirts that no longer fit me! Ahh...I love it.

I've never done a scrappy back either and have always wanted to try it. Film in the Fridge, you are an inspiration! She always has the cutest quilt backs. I really like how it turned out. The black and gray fabric is a really soft homespun. It's get's so very soft after you wash it. Perfect for cuddling.

I had to wait until the baby was born to know if was a boy or a girl so I wanted to wait to bind it so that I could make it more "boyish" or "girly". So, as soon as he came along I found this pretty blue striped searsucker in my stash. I've always wanted to do a striped binding. It it had been a girl I would have either gone with bright pink or purple. Or maybe I would have been really crazy and used a bright floral pattern?

Here's the little label I made for it. By Aunt Jenny, your FAVORITE Aunt! A little subtle brain washing....*ehem* I had to do finish this after he was born as well. I did all of it except his name and the date he was born ahead of time. Goodness, I was so on top of things.

I quilted this in a spiraled square starting from the middle. Easy peasy and so quick. One reason I got it done in time. :)

This little heart is in the very center of the quilt. Just like he came from the center of God's heart.

Just like nothing is perfect in this world, this quilt isn't quite perfect either. Here's my little oops moment. Accidentally sewed this section of binding with the stripes going the wrong way. I love it though. It gives character.

Hello...

I wanted to show you this tea. It's divine. No really... it is. The name, I'll admit, sounds revolting in almost every way. However... It is delicious! Of all the Yogi teas I've tasted (although I've not tasted them all) I haven't tasted one I don't like. And this is the one I'm currently infatuated with. I've had a cold the last couple days so I've been drinking lots of this tea! I think it's helping! -well, that and all the vitamins I've been taking and of course, my Concoction. =]This is what the box used to look like. (I like the old boxes better.) =] We get it at Whole Foods but I'm sure they sell it other places too. I love it that it's 100% Natural and that it has lots of good stuff in it. Plus, even though it's Green tea, it's herbal. Cool, eh? (Still, not quite sure how that works...) It is not a bitter tea at all, which is great. I like to drink it with a little bit of honey to sweeten it and sometimes when I'm in need of a little extra warmth and want to kick my cold in the pants, (not sure what that really meant...) I put a little tiny bit of cayenne in it. Warms you right through!

Anyway... I hope everyone is doing great! Happy Autumn! I love this time of year.. And I mean to enjoy it to the fullest! I hope everyone will do the same.

Remedies for colds

I thought I'd post these recipes in a separate post because the last one was so long. =]
So in case you didn't already see these, here are my favorite recipes to fight colds and sore throats. =]

Marguerite's Concoction of Delight
This is something I make when I get or feel like I'm going to get a cold.

Place in the blender:
1/2 cup frozen berries or fruit
1 cup rice milk
1 Tblsp. flax seed meal
1 Tblsp. honey
dash of cinnamon
pinch of cayenne
pinch of vitamin C powder (or whatever dosage on bottle is. WARNING: Very sour!)
1-2 droppers full echinacea
1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
10-15 drops grapefruit seed extract
(these are all approximate measures. I usually don't measure anything exact when I make it.)

And then I put whatever liquid supplements I'm taking such as...
vitamin D
1-2 drops "Thieves" Essential Oil
Ningxia Red
or Jus

Then blend on high until smooth.
Voila! A much tastier way to gain back your health. And you can mix it up by adding different fruit with it like banana or coconut milk to make it more creamy or add or take away different supplements to make it more specific to your needs. =]

Here's a way to help with a sore throat...
A friend of Genevieve told her about this and Gen told me.

1. Wash your hands
2. Get one finger wet with water
3. Cover it with salt (I use natural, non iodized sea sal t. I wouldn't recommend using regular iodized salt.)
4. Rub it all around on the back of your throat
5. Rinse it out with water and either spit it out or swallow it.
I prefer to swallow it because it's good for you. This helps SO much! I usually get really bad sore throats so I was very happy to find something that really works good!

Or there's the ol' standby: Chamomile tea with honey, apple cider vinegar and cayenne.
This helps me too. =]

Note: I am not, by any means, certified to advise about health issues etc... all I know is what works for me. =]

Well, I hope you don't have to use these recipes because you're already well, but if you aren't well, then I hope these will help you.

Tea cozy picture from Salihan Crafts

This morning I woke up with a cold. Pooky. -as my sweet nephew would say. =]
But alas, it is an excuse to do all sorts of cozy things. And since the weather has been rather gray and wet (yay!) It makes it feel even more cozy. *smiles*

Here's my favorite recipe for a cozy day...
I wake up hearing rain on our tin roof and smelling the freshness of the wet earth. I look at the clock, 9:27 am. *contented sigh*...it's Saturday. I reach for my fuzzy pink monster slippers and put on my warmest sweatshirt, then shuffle downstairs to see who else is stirring. The first person I see is my Mom, with slippers on feet and coffee in hand. She greets me with a "Good morning" and a kiss. Then our dog Jebbers, wagging his tail so hard he can hardly walk over to me to give me a 'hug' and to look up into my face and ask, "Can we go play right now!?" So, I promise him we will later. Next, it's to the kitchen for a nice hot cup of Creme de la Earl Grey sweetened with a little honey. Then I sit down in front of a cozy fire with my tea and my Bible and thank God for giving me the blessing of life, home, family and the smell of bacon frying on the stove. Without Jesus, I wouldn't be able to enjoy anything, simple or great. Then I see my sisters faces and am greeted with a great idea or an inside joke they had been thinking of all night. My Mom turns on the Little Women soundtrack and everyone feels that all is right with the world. Then we sit down to breakfast and discuss our plans for the day, hopefully they'll include a walk when the rain lets up, afternoon tea, working on items to sell at the market we'll be participating in in October and playing some music later on. Of course, these are all possible plans but nothing is really fixed for certain. We could always decide to do something entirely different... it is a Saturday after all...

I hope you are all feeling 'cozy' today, as I said, I have a cold so I will most likely spend most of the day taking vitamins and scrubbing salt on the throat and hopefully brainstorming about the Bend Indoor Markets that is coming up next weekend (Sept. 25th and 26th). We, or Pretty Wit rather, got invited to participate in it! We're so excited! We have signed up for the first weekend in October and have been working on all sorts of things to sell. Tasha Tudor Day!

Happy Tasha Tudor Day! This has been one of the happiest days ever! I'm an Auntie!... again! =] Hooray for babies, God's most wonderful creation!
We haven't done anything very astounding or exotic, we've just spent the whole day enjoying the simple and beautiful gifts God has given to us.
Tasha and her way of life are so fascinating to me. Even though our beliefs are most likely very different from Tasha's, there is a lot about her life style that is so inspiring! She loved living a good life. Simple, natural and fun (with lots of hard work)! She did what she loved to do. She walked barefoot all summer, made gifts throughout the year and kept them in a trunk until they were needed, decorated her house for holidays, played with her children, illustrated and wrote books for a living, cooked good food, did all kinds of crafts and always took joy in life!
I think if we make an effort every day to take joy in something or another, after a while we won't even have to try. =]
Her paintings and illustrations always reflected her own life and way of living.
Here are some pictures Genevieve took of the simple things we enjoy each day in our home or wherever we are.

Today... we were a little bit preoccupied with thinking of, looking at, shopping for a certain baby =] so we didn't do much besides. However... we did make time to have afternoon tea. Something Tasha Tudor loved to do!

And it turned out to be a coldish kind of day with a little bit of rain to make it the perfect weather for a cozy day inside. We even got to start a fire in our wood stove!

On the menu was fresh pears, gluten/egg/dairy free cookie bars (actually very tasty!), mini chocolate chip cookies and...

...fresh figs! Aren't they so pretty? I actually started cutting up these figs before I even thought about having tea... then I thought, "These are just too pretty! I must have a little party to show them off." So out came the china, tea, cookies, flowers and even some table linens. It was one of those things that just kind of grows in the making. =]

It has been a wonderful day! Some time soon we're going to have our dear friend Mrs. F over to watch the Tasha Tudor videos. Yay! Honestly, I think she is even more Tasha Tudor than Tasha Tudor herself! Ha ha! No, but really.

Hello my film-fellow-freaks. :) We have found it at last! The trailer you've all been waiting for!
What made you want to see this (awesome) film when you first saw the trailer??
I can't decide weather it makes you want to see it more because it's such a dumb trailer, or make you declare you will "never see it, as long as you live"...? hmm.

as lame as this preview makes this movie look, it really is an AWESOME mini-series! I hope you go and watch it!
and pay attention to the filming and COSTUMES! it's all so pretty!

Goodness me! Isn't this lovely? The rain is wonderful and the smell is fabulous!
I just ran into these photos that i took of this crocheted blanket i made for my baby niece who has now just turned two! she's just adorable..

It is crazy how big it got! i never took a photo of it once it was done. :( i don't know why..?
And I even stitched on a pink crocheted chain that spelled her name in a cursive script. It was green. It was warm. and she loved it. *grins*
I only wish i could show you the finished project but.. alas! i have not a single photo of it!

An Afternoon Dress

I just did a post on Miss Emaline's Circle of Fashionable Friends about an 1860's dress I made for my China doll (to see the finished project click here) and This young lady was kind enough to ask to see more pictures of the one I made for myself! So I scavenged around and found these. They are not very good but they'll do the job! It is an 1860's afternoon dress made of cotton calico. For the bodice I used this pattern and cut the neckline different and for the sleeves I used this pattern. I'm sorry to say that my dress is not ironed in ANY of these pictures. For shame!Here is the dress with a cotton blouse underneath for morning and day time.
I trimmed it with white piping (everyone is always telling me that they didn't do contrasting piping in the 1860's... All I can say is, "Were. You. There?") and also with a pretty cotton lace. There are covered buttons fastening it down the front.
The skirt is 4 panels around to fit over a hoop, with a gathered ruffle sewn on near the hem, hand gathered into a waistband and sewn on to the bodice. This picture shows the truest color of the ruffle but still doesn't quite do it justice.

There is a growth tuck just above the ruffle because I made it too long and then did not have time to make it look like it was supposed to be there before the event we were going to. phew! And as is most often the case with me... it is still there looking weird to this day.
So there you have it! The best part of this dress is how much fun it is to wear! The ruffle makes the skirt have a great weight and it moves really beautifully! I wish I had some better pictures but alas... ah me... and all that. =]

I love the lacing on the side/back seam. and the neat-o straps! check it out! they're skinny in the back and them wide on top! who'd-a thunk it! i wonder if they go skinny again in the front.... hmmmm.. that's the trouble with paintings. only one picture of them. *huff* but oh well. i guess you could think of it as a chance to come up with something original. ..
when i make this, *eyebrow action*, i will pose like this. with my hair in a draping braid and playing a lute! :D

The mass of galaxy cluster Abell 2218 distorts and magnifies the light of galaxies beyond it, allowing us to see distant galaxies in the universe.

This view of nearly 100,000 (!!! Wow!) galaxies captures the faintest visible-light details of the universe ever seen. It reveals billions of light years of galactic history.

Gas heated to more than 36,000 degrees Fahrenheit tears across space at more than 600,000 miles an hour to form the butterfly-shaped nebula.

Do you feel tiny yet?

I do.

And it's a great feeling. Because I know that my God is bigger than all of these galaxies and stars. And a God who can create such beauty is a God worthy to be praised! Just think of how many gorgeous things are out farther in the universe that we haven't even seen yet and may not ever see.

Last night we watched Phantom of the Opera. WOW! I forgot just how much I love that movie. The singing is phenomenal, the costumes outstanding and the sets are breathtaking! (wow. I sound like an old movie preview.. oh dear!)

haha! I have wanted to post these photos since--"At four in the afternoon."--heh heh.. since my birthday in 2007! AHH! I'm crazy late, i know! but never the less...here we are. :)
I had a Costume Party! it was SO much fun! we spent the evening around the campfire, resiting limericks and jigging about like crazies in funny costumes! :D aha! It was a blast!

~here we are. Us two, were thick as thieves. ;D~
I fear i quite resemble him.. ;D haha!
I even had a wee, purple weed like Mr. Collins!
(he is so squaty!)

And of course, who could forget the wave?? HA!
It was an excellent costume party! "What a superbly featured room and what excellent boiled potatoes."
Even the Rum Runners made it! Along with Holly Golightly, Pocahontas, Edith Head and a Japanese Rock Star! (I wish i had photos of them all because they really were FABULOUS!!) And this ever-so fun and delicious cake was made by the ever-so splendid-ly Genevieve-idly! :) Manx, Gen!

Christopher Columbus!

I was so thrilled when I heard about Miss Rebecca's Little Women blogging event! As it happens... Little Women in our house is pretty much an everyday event so I didn't have to go far for something to blog about. =]

I live in a log house in the country with my loving 'Marmee' and my two (still single) sisters. (But I think you already know that.)
Here is our home which we like to call "Orchard House".
And we do have a small orchard too. =]
We live our lives very like the March's in a lot of ways. We garden, sew, quote Dickens ALL the time, cook, put on "wild theatricals" and love everything that is simple, pure and good.
I believe the number one most played cd in our house is this -

Marmee always makes our house so warm and homey!

But Hannah certainly is right when she says, "housekeeping ain't no joke." ha ha!I thought I'd post some pictures of our daily chores so you wouldn't think it all just happened magically.

I forgot to get pictures of the feeding of the chickens etc. Oh well... I'm convinced that if the March's would've had chickens, they might have complained about them a little. ;}

I think we could all use in our everyday lives a little bit of Marmee....

Little things, big things and the in between...

Hello my good friends!
I just thought I'd say hello to you all! God has blessed me with such a nice week! Today it was so nice and sunny, I worked on cleaning and organizing our "dress up room" and I got to see a friend who I haven't seen in a long time. It is so nice to just take time to enjoy the little things. A cup of tea in the afternoon, a phone call from a friend, the sunlight making everything look fresh and new!

On the weekend Genevieve played in the symphony concert which was so delightful! They played a Beethoven symphony and a piece by William Grant Still called the Afro-American Symphony (in which there was a BANJO player! ha!). Spectacular! There were three young local soloists who played with the symphony also! They were all incredible! It made me want SO badly to start playing my violin again! So, I am going to start practicing again this week. =]
Here are three movements of the Afro-American Symphony.

But there really is no comparison to hearing them live! I didn't know what I was missing until I went to my first symphony concert. WOW! The music completely engulfs you. It's like your in it somehow. The symphony concerts here are free too which makes it accessible to everyone! You should definitely look up the symphony in your area (if you have one) and check it out! The symphony here is outstanding! I try to at least go to two of the three performances each time and am never disappointed. =]
Well, time to go cook up something for din din.

Ten Random Things About Myself

1. I can wear a sweatshirt 20 different ways. for cereal i can! i covered a post-it note with tally marks and there were 20!

2. i guess the man i marry has to be equally weird..cause i would still like to do the same things i do now, you know? he'd want to dance old English country dances and dress up like robin hood and carry a bow and arrow for a self defense weapon.. and such like that.. you know the drill.

3. I love the color yellow! nothing is more brilliant.

4. (I don't know anything about the wincing with the ducks flying cabbage around but i must say that to not have been to a chick flick, Gwen, is....well...that is...) lets see.. how about this: I brake into Shakespeare monologues and faint all the time. sometimes at the same time! :) pretty impressive, huh?

5. I could not name my favorite movie if someone asked me...isn't that sad? sad sadity sadity..

6. I can swallow a total of 2 vitamins at the same time. I repeat: TWO! sad, again..

7. I practically get ambushed and Attacked by our Rooster "Pecksniff" almost every day when i go out to the chicken coup to feed the sorry buggers. he's a fright!

8. Happiness is my favorite word.. *sigh* is more of an emotion then a word..else i would say that was my favorite. :)

9. My randomness is vast..

10. Hot dog!..hmm...I tickle dead people. i guess..

heh heh.. Anna that one's for you! You mustn't die ever again or else I'll have to tickle you.. AGAIN!! *evil laughter and skulking with a billowing cape*

...how much I like Hawaiian food? Well, I do like it. And I like it a lot.
We just finished the cleanse we were doing, so tonight we got take-out at the Aloha Cafe for dinner. Mmmm... =] Happiness! Kalua pig with white rice and pineapple coleslaw... can't beat that. The best thing they have there is The Big Kahuna, which is a mixed plate of everything. *smiles blissfully* It feeds 2-3 hungry people.

Here's how they cook it traditionally. Awesome. These people look like they've just found their new home. -- I'm there all the way. =]Mmmmmm......I'll be back one day.

Well, I started it today! Yipeeee!!
I hope to post updates, when I have them. But you know me...

My wonderful, beautiful, accomplished sister (the eldest daughter in our family), is helping me make it! She (and my other wonderful, beautiful, accomplished sister) bought me the fabric as a birthday present (as well as several rabbit skins for the trim!) and today we fitted the pattern.
Next Step: Cut out fabric.
Oh Boy!!
